Year 1 Trip to Elmswell Farm

Year 1 had a wonderful trip to Elmswell farm, we learned about different species of plants and trees and why it is important to help protect them. We had a giant walk around the farm (which was very hot) and saw lots of wildflowers, crops and even an Elm tree! We enjoyed listening to Farmer John talk about the different machinery that is used on the farm and couldn't believe how huge the tractors were! We were all tired by the end of the day and enjoyed relaxing on the bus home.

Apostleship of the Sea - Woolly Hat Appeal

On Monday 25th November our whole school assembly was led by members of the Apostleship of the Sea. They explained to the children what the charity involves and how they help seafares accross the Christmas period who are away from their homes and family.

At sea, Christmas can be a difficult and isolating time. But it’s at these moments when the kindness of someone like us we can make the biggest difference.

This year the charity will  hand out chocolates and toiletries, socks, prayer books and other items packaged up in woolly hats. They’re small gifts, but the message to seafarers is powerful: you’re not alone, we care for you, God loves you. The Year 6 Chaplaincy Team will help the classes collect and wrap the donated goods

Year 6 were invited to perform and meet the WW2 veterans at Alderson House 11th November 2019

Both the children and veterans loved the afternoon and we have been invited back to perform Christmas Carols in December. Well done Year 6

Mission Together

Mission Together is the Catholic Church’s official children’s charity for overseas mission. It is the children’s branch of Missio.

Previously known as Holy Childhood, Mission Together has been working in Catholic schools and parishes worldwide since 1843, encouraging children to pray, fundraise and become missionaries themselves – children helping children…

In the month of October we began to look at the Mission Rosary which is a special form of the prayer, established in 1951 by Venerable Fulton J. Sheen, US National Director of Missio. Fr Sheen wanted to encourage Catholics to pray for the whole world, especially for those who are poor and vulnerable. Hence the Mission Rosary is made up of five different colours, each representing a different continent.

The Mission Rosary helps children to understand that they belong to a Universal Church that shares God’s love with our global human family. As they pray each decade they remember children in that continent and how, through Christ, we are all connected. We had a day of Many Colour and participated in a  whole school Mission Rosary
